Joaquin athlete Malik Stotts signed a national letter of intent Wednesday, Feb. 1 to play football at Harding University. Malik is a four-sport Ram’s athlete participating in football, basketball, baseball, and track.

CENTER Boys — On Tuesday, January 24, The Roughriders were handed their first loss since early December. The Chapel Hill Bulldogs defeated the Riders 64-57. Center held an early district win over the Bulldogs giving the teams a split 1-1 record against one another.

The Center Recreation Department announced that 2023 spring soccer, softball, and baseball sign-ups will begin Jan. 27 at the Community House on San Augustine Street in Center. Other dates include Tuesday, Jan. 31 and Friday, and Feb. 3. The time for all dates is 5 to 7 p.m.

Center Boys — The Center Roughriders continue to show well in district play now moving to 5-0 with two wins last week. On Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Riders faced off against the Henderson Lions. Center jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Marmar Evans led the Riders with a 30-point total.

Johnson named to SNHU President’s List

Laura Johnson of Center has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Fall 2022 President’s List. The fall terms run from September to December. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum gradepoint average of 3.

Blanco named to SNHU Dean’s List

Justin Blanco of Joaquin has been named to Southern New Hampshire University’s Fall 2022 Dean’s List. The fall terms run from September to December. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean’s List.
