Body

Center

Boys — The Center Roughriders continue to show well in district play now moving to 5-0 with two wins last week. On Tuesday, Jan. 10, the Riders faced off against the Henderson Lions. Center jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Marmar Evans led the Riders with a 30-point total. Center secured the win with an 82-47 final.

Next, the Riders took on the Kilgore Bulldogs. Evans once again led the Riders with a 19-point total followed by Emonte Cross and Timothy Johnson who each tallied 11 points. Center maintained their unbeaten streak within the district with a 54-26 victory.

Girls — The Lady Riders faced off against the Henderson Lady Lions and earned their first district victory last week. Center’s girls were treated to a tightly contested ballgame that ultimately ended with a 44-41 win for the Lady Riders.

Joaquin

Boys — The Joaquin Rams started last week with a victory over non-district opponent White Oak. The Rams fought for the victory and earned a 42-36 final over the Roughnecks.

Returning to district play at the end of the week, Joaquin was ousted in a tight game with the Gary Bobcats. The final score rested at 49-43, Gary.

Girls — Joaquin’s Lady Rams had a tough week on the court. Their first game ended in a 42-17 loss to the Slocum Lady Mustangs. Joaquin would then end the week with another loss, this time a close 32-27 game with district opponent Gary.

Shelbyville

Boys — The Shelbyville Dragons fell to two ranked opponents last week. The No. 3 ranked Timpson Bears took the victory over the Dragons 59-50. Next, No. 16 Beckville earned a win over Shelbyville with a final of 62-50.

Girls — The Lady Dragons fell last Friday to the Beckville Lady Bearcats in a game that resulted in a 51-36 final.

Tenaha

Boys — The Tenaha Tigers ended last week with mixed results. Their early week game against the Garrison Bulldogs ended with a 62-49 victory at home. However, their road game against the Timpson Bears resulted in a 74-44 loss for the Tigers.

Girls — The Tenaha Lady Tigers are currently ranked No. 5 in the state and for good reason. Tenaha is currently on a 15-game winning streak. Their latest wins included an 83-11 beatdown of the Garrison Bulldogs and a 60-35 win over the Lady Bears of Timpson.

Timpson

Boys — Timpson is currently on a roll. As things stand now, they remain undefeated in district following their 5950 win over the Shelbyville Dragons and their 74-44 victory over the Tenaha Tigers. The Bears show no signs of letting up as playoffs loom ever closer.

Girls — The Lady Bears ended the week on a sour note with a loss to the Tenaha Lady Tigers. Despite the loss, Timpson is still in a good position to earn one of the top seeds from the district.
