The Great Outdoors If Scout could write, she might offer a timely message like this one to Texas deer hunters. Dear Deer Hunters, The word around my house is it is going to be great season with plenty of boss bucks running around out there. I’ve already seen several big ones up close.

Roughriders send Bears into hibernation

Friday, on the last night of the regular season, there were three games in District 8 and one team on bye. The Carthage Bulldogs had the night off having clinched their eighth consecutive district championship. Two of the actual games—Rusk vs Canton and Van vs Bullard— had playoff implications.

The Bullard Panthers were fighting for their playoff lives Friday night, coming into the game with a 1-3 district record and assuming it would take three wins for the fourth seed.

The Tenaha Tigers squeaked out a victory over the Mount Enterprise Wildcats last Friday night. The two teams traded the lead several times in a hard-fought game twith neither team giving ground. The Tigers prevailed, earning the final lead in the fourth giving them a 36-34 win on the road.

The Timpson Bears have earned their ninth straight victory of the season. The Bears traveled to Shelbyville to face the Dragons and walked away with a 61-0 shutout. Timpson has now won 39 straight regular season games.

Joaquin remains in the hunt

With their backs against the wall on Friday night, the Joaquin Rams needed a win to maintain any hope of extending their season. The Rams rose to the occasion and finished their regular season with a win against the West Sabine Tigers.

Timpson makes short work of Joaquin

Friday night was one to forget for the Joaquin Rams as they traveled to Timpson and were left scoreless after four quarters. Timpson made short work of Joaquin to the tune of a 69-0 shutout.
