In Texas high school football at the end of the season, it is never safe to take an undefeated opponent lightly. Last Friday night, the Tenaha Tigers squared off against the 9-0 Overton Mustangs. Tenaha entered the matchup with a 7-2 overall record and a 4-0 district record. Neither team had been stopped within 2A Division II District 11 meaning that this contest would serve as the district championship.

Tenaha was led by junior quarterback Brikelian Kenney. Kenney completed 15 of 20 passes for 159 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also contributed to the run game with five carries for 44 yards.

Senior running back Jordan Reese toted the load on the ground with 19 carries for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Fellow senior Kamarion Ross had 15 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown. D.J. Cooks took a pair of handoffs and earned 45 yards and a touchdown for his efforts. Ja’Tyrian Moore led the team in receiving yards with 93 on nine catches. Defensively, Moore and Kenney each picked off an interception. D..J Cooks led the team with 10 tackles. Seth Stokes and Jaylon Williams each got to the quarterback for one sack a piece.
