SHS teams compete in powerlifting meets

The Shelbyville High School powerlifting team competed in the LCQ Meet held on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in West Sabine. Results were: Hunter Harvey, 148 Weight Class, 2nd Place w/930 lbs.John Highnight, 165 Weight Class, 2nd Place w/1035 lbs.Roland Young, 181 Weight Class, 3rd Place w/830 lbs.

Purtis Creek cranks out Texas’ No. 27 biggest bass of all-time

The list of donor lakes for the Toyota ShareLunker program’s 2026 collection season continues to grow.Through Feb. 18, eight different lakes had contributed Legacy Lunkers. The fish range in weight from 13.10 pounds to 16.04 pounds.The most recent entries include a 13.16 pounder caught Feb.

Bears suffer Round 1 loss to San Augustine

On Monday night, the Timpson Bears and San Augustine Wolves met up in Tenaha to compete in their first playoff game of the season. After four long quarters, the Wolves came out on top, beating Timpson 70-34.

A pair of free ranging East Texas bucks taken during the 2025-26 hunting season have qualified for entry to the Boone and Crockett all-time record book, pending approval by the B&C Big Game Records Committee. Both sets of antlers were scored in January following B&C’s mandatory 60-day drying period.

CHS softball takes out Waskom and Cushing

Center High School Varsity softball team had a dominant day on the field, going 2-0 with two big wins.They opened the day with an impressive 13–2 victory over Waskom, followed by another strong 13–2 win against Cushing in game two.
