Shelbyville links team wins district

The Shelbyville High School golf team recently competed at the district tournament where the boys golf team placed first. They are back-to-back district champs.

A well-schooled angler probably won’t get much of an education here, but a novice might learn a little something. If nothing else, they might broaden their vocabulary. Here’s a lexicon of fishing terms and phrases frequently used by anglers of all kinds: 1.

FISHIN’ FOR MEMORIES

I’ve fished lots of places and shared the casting deck with plenty of neat people since launching this gig 40 years ago. Though I’ve never made a ton of money, my mind is rich with fond memories that were hatched along the way.

22-year-old Nutt dominates 2026 Bassmaster Classic

Tennessee bass angler Dylan Nutt was a virtual unknown among the pro ranks until now.Nutt, 22, won the 2026 Bassmaster Classic held March 13-16 on the Tennessee River out of Knoxville.

A bass fisherman accused of altering the weight of a fish in a fishing tournament is facing felony charges after state game wardens discovered three slip sinkers in the stomach of a female bass he brought to weigh in on the second day of the Lake Fork Lure Co.

The Center High School golf team hosted its home tournament recently, with the boys’ teams finishing 1st and 3rd.The Boys A team shot: Westin Wulf-80 (also 1st individually), Sutton link-82 (also 2nd individually), Ryder Moody-86, Easton Wulf-87, Gage Vidrine-89.

On Monday, March 2, the Shelbyville Golf team traveled to Waskom and competed at Crooked Hollow. Out of the girls’ team, Addison Lloyd (Senior), coached by Gina Jones, earned 3rd place with a score of 96.

Timpson track and field competes in Raider Relays

On Thursday, March 5, the Timpson Bear track and field team traveled to West Rusk to compete in the annual Raider Relays. This was the first meet of the year that every Timpson track athlete attended, and they were determined to come out with a bang.
