Two Shelbyville seniors and a Joaquin sophomore each brought home a gold medal from the Class 2A state track and field meet Friday at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. Dylan Parker and Emily Pharris - both of Shelbyville won the 2A boys high jump and 2A girls 800-meter run, respectively.

Texas: destination for big bass hunters

Some call Texas the Lone Star State. I like to call it “Big Bass Central.” An army of giant bass have been caught in Texas over the years. At last count, more than 90 Lone Star reservoirs had produced lake records weighing 13 pounds or more. The biggest bass are always females.

Tenaha senior Arlette Ramirez signed with Wiley College Tuesday, April 16 to play women’s soccer. The signing was held at the Tenaha Special Events Center where Tenaha soccer coaches and Athletic Coordinator Dee Lewis spoke.
