A team of students from Northwestern State University led by NSU graduating senior from Shelbyville, Matthew Gamble, won the Entrepreneurship Pelican Cup prize last month. The device, “Rise and Rotate,” is a mobility assistance device.

Lady Dragon track team qualifies for state competition

The Shelbyville Lady Dragon track team qualified for state competition April 28-29 at the regional track meet in Palestine. Regional Champion in the 800M run and 1600M run was Emily Pharris. In the 4x200 relay, Kylie Snell, Nekyia Swindle, Liela Klein and Emily Pharris, placed first capturing the title of Regional Champions. In the 4x400 relay,Antiyiah Giles, Liela Klein, Makenzie Gillaspie and Treana Macks placed second.The state track meet will be May 12-13 at Mike Meyers Stadium in Austin. Panola College offering kids camps this summer

Panola College and the Department of Workforce and Continuing Education will offer a variety of camps this summer, some on the Center campus, for kids ages 5 and up. The camps will begin June 5 and take place throughout the months of June and July.
