As the Daingerfield’s Tigers walked onto Roughrider Field Friday night, they were facing the #1 scoring offense in Texas 4A, Div I and Div II alike. With 198 total points in the first three weeks, Center had scored 21 more points than the next highest team, Chapel Hill with 177.

Tenaha narrowly falls to Arp

The Tenaha Tigers started the season on a roll maintaining an undefeated record through the first three games of the season. Unfortunately, Tenaha came up just short in their battle with the Arp Tigers last Friday. Arp took the narrow victory 36-35.

Little Dragons cheering

Shelbyville Youth Sports is offering cheering programs for K through 2nd grade for K-2nd grade football teams, and 3rd-6th grade cheering for 3rd-4th and 5th-6th grade football teams. The K-2 grade cheer squad and 3-5 grade cheer squad each have their own football teams consisting of flag, 3-4 grade tackle and 5-6 grade tackle.

Timpson tramples Waskom

The Timpson Bears traveled to Waskom last Friday night and delivered a 6312 beating to the Wildcats. Timpson has had no problem punching above their 2A Division I weight class this year. Earlier this season they faced off against the Jefferson Bulldogs who are a 3A Division I school, and last week the Bears had a matchup with the Daingerfield Tigers who, like Waskom, are a 3A Division II school. Despite the smaller pool of studentathletes to pull from, Timpson has overcome their opponents with a deep well of talent.

The Great Outdoors Art Weston of Union, Kentucky has tangled with plenty of trophy class alligator gar over the years, but none to compare with the piscatorial titan that came calling about mid-morning on September 2 as he and Kirk Kirkland waited patiently for some action at the upper reaches of Sam Rayburn Reservoir. Weston, 52, is an adrenaline junkie and record chaser who lives for the big bite.

Shelbyville delights with homecoming shutout

Homecoming festivities took place in Shelbyville last Friday, as the Dragons prepared to face off against the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets. Before kickoff, Shelbyville introduced their court and crowned NaKyia Swindle this year’s homecoming queen.
