County voters elect new council, board members

David Danleydavid@lightandchampion.com The Light and ChampionVoters across the county had the opportunity to cast ballots in two city and two school board elections last Saturday.In the Tenaha city election, voting was conducted for the positions of mayor and two council seats.

King to teach plant propagation skills at SFA Gardens Seminar

SFA Gardens will host a Garden Seminar from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 9, in the Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building at the Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet Street in Nacogdoches. Dr.
Sergio Reyes, junior at Shelbyville ISD, compet - ed at the State Powerlifting Meet on March 27 in Abilene. Sergio placed 11th in the 181 lb. weight class. He beat his personal best in the Bench Press of 330 lbs. His total at the State meet was 1,330 lbs. SHS Yearbook | Light and Champion

Shelby County Chamber to host Teacher Appreciation

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Teacher Appreciation reception will be held Wednesday, May 6 at the Windham Civic Center in Center at 4:30 p.m. The reception is held annually to salute and recognize the dedicated administrations and teaching staff of all the Shelby County school districts.
