Timpson earns fourth consecutive semifinal entry

The Timpson Bears are headed to the state semifinals for the fourth year in a row after defeating their long-time rival Garrison. In a week filled with upsets, the Bulldogs were unable to overcome their underdog status. This marks the second time these two rivals have met this year and the second time that Timpson has walked away with the victory. The Bears defeated the Bulldogs 35-26 during the final district game of the season, and again 3523 in the state quarterfinals last Friday.

Tigers execute comeback

Tenaha is headed to the regional round of Texas 2A-DII playoffs after their 22-14 win over the Dawson Bulldogs pushing their overall record to 10-2. The Tigers battled back from a 14-6 halftime deficit to secure the win. Heading into the fourth quarter the Tigers trailed 14-12. Their efforts in the final quarter resulted in 10 points and the victory.

Timpson trounces Wolfe City in Area

The Timpson Bears continue to roll through Texas 2A-DI after defeating the Wolfe City Wolves 58-20 in the area round. The Wolves left this matchup with a final overall record of 9-3, while the Bears have maintained a perfect, undefeated season through all 12 games so far this season.

Dragons’ season end in Area

The Shelbyville Dragons’ football season came to an end in the area round of Texas 2A-DI playoffs Friday night at Bullard. They fell to the Cooper Bulldogs 69-28.

My good friend Gary Paris recently enjoyed one of the those magical afternoons in a deer stand that many hunters dream about but most are never lucky enough to experience. What’s really cool about the deal is he was hunting a tiny strip of free-ranging woods about six acres in size.
