The Shelbyville Youth Sports program has five teams advancing to the DYB/DYS State Championship Series this weekend July 5-6 at Lear Park in Longview. It will be a North vs South best two out of three series, and the winner will advance to the World Series.

Council approves changes to budget, plumbing code

Amending the budget and the plumbing code were the main action items at the regular meeting of the Center city council held on Monday, June 9.The council approved a proposed budget amendment for the Hotel Motel Trust Fund and Civic Center Construction Fund, as presented by City Manager Chad Nehring.

Kayaking accident claims life of Timpson resident

On Wednesday, June 18, a boating accident on Lake Timpson led to a search for a missing Timpson resident. Gregory Parker, 43, of Timpson, and another person were kayaking on the lake when Parker’s kayak capsized.

The storm cloud didn’t look very inviting. It was a bluish green mixed with eerie wisps of gray and white that outlined the leading edge of a summertime thunder boomer that popped up seemingly from nowhere.
