Tenaha city council accepts emergency services petition

Approving a petition to create an emergency services district in Shelby County was the main action item at the Tenaha city council meeting held Monday, July 28.

Center ISD picks Henson as Interim Superintendent

At the Center ISD special meeting held on Wednesday, July 30, the board approved a new interim superintendent and opted out of allowing home-schooled students to participate in district UIL events.

Tipton resigns, sanctuary ordinance passed

Accepting the resignation of Josh Tipton and a nolle prosequi agreement filed with it, and approving a county ordinance to declare Shelby County as a sanctuary county for the unborn were the major topics of discussion at the commissioners’ court special meeting held on Wednesday, July 30.

Plates of Grace ready to serve Southern comfort

Shelby County’s newest restaurant, Plates of Grace, held its ribbon cutting on Tuesday, welcomed into the local business community by the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce and numerous well-wishers.
