Court sets 2025 proposed tax rate, transfers vehicles

Discussing the 2025 proposed tax rate, setting a date for a public hearing to discuss increased taxes, and the transfer of vehicles were the main action items during the commissioners’ court special meeting held on Wednesday, Aug. 27.This year’s total proposed tax rate is .
World War II came to an end with the formal surrender of the Japanese on Sept. 2, 1945 aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This day has become known as VJ Day (Victory over Japan). In honor of this, and all those who served in WWII, the Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Auxiliary held an observance on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial on the grounds of the 1885 Historic Courthouse in Center.
