The main action item at the Feb. 23 meeting of the Center city council was the awarding of bids for the replacement of the roofs on the library and city hall buildings.“Last year, at the end of budget year, y’all set aside a total of $400,000 for both projects combined.

Texas big bass expert John Hope passed away on Feb. 22 following complications from a pair of strokes he suffered in January. He was 82.Hope was a well-known fishing guide at Houston County Lake near Crockett in the late 1980s and 1990s.
