Derrick Roberts blows Taps during the Shelby County VFW Post 8904 observance of VE Day. VE (Victory in Europe) Day is held every year to cel- ebrate the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany on May 8, 1945, to bring WWII to a conclusion in Europe. The VFW remembered the occasion by laying a wreath at the Veterans Memorial on the historic courthouse square. WWII of"cially ended on Sept. 2, 1945, with the formal Japanese surrender.
