The Shelby County Museum opened its new exhibit Thursday, July 20 featuring two photos taken 100 years apart at the same location on the downtown Center square. On May 5, 1923, Center photographer Roy R. Loving took the first photo of the northwest corner of the square.
Friday, May 5, 2023, Center photographer Lawrence Davis took a photograph on the same corner commemorating the 100th anniversary of the well-known 1923 photo. The museum is taking pre-orders for copies of the 1923 and 2023 photos for $50 each. All proceeds will go to benefit the museum.
Alongside the 100th anniversary photos are exhibits of Shelby County history including photos of Daniel McSwain III who was a part of building the Historic Courthouse.
Visit this exhibit and inquire about pre-orders at the Shelby County Museum located at 230 Pecan Street in Center.
