Following the bye, Timpson continues to dominate the field of 2A-1 District 11. Their most recent victory was a 70-8 beat down at John Herbert Eakin Stadium over the West Sabine Tigers.

“After an off week, we were able to work on some fundamental stuff,” said Timpson head coach Kerry Therwhanger. “These guys enjoy playing football, so to be able to get back out here and get after it, they were excited about this week. West Sabine was 2-1 heading into this game, so even though the score was what it was, you can’t take anybody lightly. I thought our kids came out and executed really well.”

By the half, Timpson had amassed a 64-0 lead over the Tigers. Terry Bussey continues to perform at an incredibly high level for the Bears. His first touchdown came at the 11:01 mark in the first quarter on a 41-yard dash to the endzone.

On West Sabine’s following possession, Timpson freshman Chris Nickleberry forced a turnover by snagging an interception. Four seconds of game time after this interception, Bussey hit Geovonie Bryant for an 18-yard touchdown.

Bryant would score on the next Bears’ possession as well. JJ Gardner was nearing the endzone when a Tiger defender made the tackle and knocked the ball loose inside the 10 toward the goal line. Bryant was in the right place at the right time and scooped the ball up and scored. Vosky Howard crossed the goal line for the two-point conversion to give Timpson a 22-0 lead.

Bussey’s longest run of the night came next on a 62-yard run for six. The Bears were able to recover a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and added to their lead following the turnover with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Bussey to Amare Bruton.

Howard’s second score was next on a 23-yard rushing touchdown. A few plays later, Bussey nabbed a pick six that he returned for 49 yards.

Next, Gardner made his way into the endzone on a 53yard carry. With 1:00 left in the half, Bussey caught Howard on a screen play that went 48-yards to pay dirt. This ended the first half with Timpson leading 64-0 Unsurprisingly, the Bears elected to rest their starters in the second half. Baylor Kimbro took over for Bussey at quarterback. Timpson would score once more on a 13-yard carry by Shaheed Cross.

Next week the Bears face off against Joaquin in what seems to be the district championship. Both teams head in undefeated and are expected to finish first and second in the district.
