JOAQUIN

Softball — The Joaquin Lady Rams faced off against the Colmesneil Lady Bulldogs on Saturday, May 6 for the area round of 2A softball playoffs. It was decided that this would be a one-off game rather than a three-game series. The Lady Rams earned a 6-3 victory, crowning themselves area champions. B. Bagley pitched for seven innings for Joaquin with nine strikeouts and 23 first pitch strikes. E. Anglin led the Lady Rams in RBIs with two.

Baseball — The Joaquin Rams kicked off playoff action with back-to-back victories over the Chireno Owls. In game one, Joaquin held the Owls scoreless with a final score of 10-0. B. Anglin pitched the entire five innings striking out 10. Anglin also led the team in RBIs with four. In game two, Joaquin walked away with a 12-2 victory. M. Hutchins pitched three innings and struck out six. D. Holt led the team with four RBIs.

SHELBYVILLE

Softball — The Shelbyville Lady Dragons are area champions following a showdown with the Evadale Lady Rebels last week. Shelbyville came out swinging in game one and earned an 11-3 victory. Sophomore Lanie Bass pitched the entire seven innings and struck out six batters. Nicole Harvey and Carsey Lovell each provided the team with two RBIs.

Game two was a much tighter ballgame. Shelbyville would ultimately fall 9-8 to the Rebels. The Lady Dragon held the lead for most of this seven-inning game before Evadale came alive in the final two innings securing a onerun advantage for the win.

With their backs against the wall, Shelbyville battled it out and earned a 12-8 win. Gracie Leach, Lanie Bass, and Taylor Jones each tallied two RBIs. Bass pitched seven innings and struck out 11.

Baseball — The Shelbyville Dragons are headed to the area round of 2A baseball playoffs. The Dragons showed well in round one action against Colmesneil taking a 10-0 victory in game one. Justin Raymond pitched the complete six-inning game and struck out 16 Bulldogs. Dylan Parker led the Dragons with three RBIs and a triple.

Shelbyville prevented game three by winning game two 19-4 after five innings. Weston Frick pitched four innings striking out five, while Dylan Parker pitched one inning and struck out three. Parker, Tucker Clark, Wyatt Frick, and DJ Barnes each had three RBIs.
