Sylvia Anne Aldridge Crooks

Sylvia Anne Crooks, 70, of Longview, Texas (formerly of Center) passed away in the early morning hours of December 14, 2023, in Longview, Texas. She was born on May 21, 1953, in Crockett, Texas to Leon Aldridge and Indianola (Johnson) Aldridge.

Sylvia was a Christian and had a strong faith in the Lord. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, crossword puzzles, butterflies, sunflowers, and cats. She loved attending any activities or events involving her grandchildren, especially watching them perform in the school band at football games, and watching her grandson play baseball. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Aiden, binge watching their favorite TV shows.

Sylvia was a member of a group called “Compassionate Friends,” an organization for anyone who has lost a child or children and treasured the friendships through them. She also enjoyed monthly outings eating out with her classmates from the 1971 Mount Pleasant High School graduating class and with her coworkers. She had lifelong friendships that meant the world to her. First and foremost, she loved her family and spending time with them and especially enjoyed family reunions.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Indianola Aldridge; son, Matthew Crooks; sister, Peggy Aldridge; and niece and nephew, Ashley Bohannon and Cody Honolka.

Left to cherish Sylvia’s memory and legacy is her loving daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Cherokee Brewer of Longview; grandchildren, Taylor Brewer and Aiden Brewer of Longview; brother, Leon Aldridge, Jr. of Center, Texas; and sister and brother-in-law, Leslie and Tom Honolka of Nashville, Ark. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the BatesCooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Pleasant. Interment followed at Gladewater Cemetery in Titus County.
