Sara Ann Bates Stupic, previously of Cleveland Ohio where she was a resident for 71 years, was born March 13, 1931, in Tenaha, Shelby County, Texas.

Sara graduated from Tenaha High School in May 1949 and married on February 1, 1950. She was preceded in death by husband, Edward W. Stupic; parents Oliver L. Bates and Mattie Lou Black Bates; brothers George Oliver Bates and Donald Gene Bates.

She is survived by niece Judy Ann Bates Schnelle and Jerry of Springtown, Texas, and Michael George Bates of Corpus Christi, Texas. One great niece and three great nephews, seven great-great nieces and nephews, and many special nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and Louisiana. 

Special friends Millie Stiles of Pennsylvania: Pam, Art, Natalie and Chelsea Goforth of Ohio.

Sara was employed with ALCO for 38 years. After retiring she enjoyed traveling and seeing the world, visiting her hometown of Tenaha every October and visiting with her families in Texas, Louisiana and Pennsylvania. She loved her time serving as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church which she was a member for many years. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Senior Group, a Bible Group and met once a month with her ALCO Breakfast Group.

She looked forward to these activities every meeting. She also looked forward to the bus trips with St. Leo's groups. Sara would like to thank everyone for being her friend. She loved and enjoyed each of you.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 4940 Broadview Rd., Cleveland, Ohio on Friday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. Visiting at church one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Heilwood, Pa.
