Mrs. Betty Horton Mitchell, age 70 of Timpson, Texas was born July 2, 1953, in Tenaha, Texas, county of Shelby. She was born to Mr. Milton Horton, Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Shepherd Horton.
On August 20, 2023, Mrs. Betty Horton Mitchell passed away at Memorial Hermann in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Betty Horton is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Deacon Ronnie Horton, Darren Horton, Lawrence “Mickey” Horton, Allen Horton, and Robert James Shepherd; nephews, Timmy, Shamfrea and LaSherrea Hooper, Quincy Handy and Mark Anthony Smith.
Betty leaves to cherish, her husband, Mr. Johnny Ray Mitchell of Timpson; son, Terry Mitchell of Richmond, Texas; daughter, Tasche Mitchell of Center; brother, Milton Horton Jr. (Earsie) of Shelbyville, Texas; sisters, Peggy Brown, Callie Horton, Donna (Alford) Fletcher all of Timpson; sister-in-law Sherina “Kay” Horton of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren: Ta’Sharrrea, Jaden, Kaden, Jamari, and Tyriek, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitations was Friday, August 25, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Sid Roberts Funeral Home in Nacogdoches.
Funeral service was Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11: 00 a.m. at Mt. Gillion Baptist Church, 5545 State Highway 87 North in Center with Rev. Charleston Johnson officiated, and Rev. Rayford Caraway was the Pastor/Eulogist.
Interment was in Mt. Gillion Cemetery in Center.
Services entrusted to her Family of Professionals at Sid Roberts Funeral Home, 3535 S.E. Stallings Dr., in Nacogdoches. “Where The Family Comes First.”
