Aubie J. McSwain Sr., 87, of Center, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in Center.

Memorial service was held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at New Life Church in Center with Dr. Aubie Jean McSwain Jr. and Dr. Douglas Watie Matlock officiating.

Aubie was born May 8, 1935, in the Camp Worth community of San Augustine County, to Samuel Leon McSwain and Alma White McSwain. He began his career in show business as a member of The Four Mints.  Aubie became the music minister of Northside Baptist Church in Weatherford and later at First Southern Baptist Church in Del City, Oklahoma, where he served fourteen years. 

He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. McSwain of Center; children, Aubie Jean “Toby” McSwain Jr. and wife Lisa of Kingwood, Laura Annette McSwain Hill and husband Johnny of St. Louis, Missouri, and Daryl Leon McSwain of Frisco; grandchildren, Courtney Matlock and husband Doug, Mallory Henderson and husband Brent, Talley McSwain, Misty McSwain, Daniel Thomas Noe, Kelsie McSwain, Tteven McSwain, Anthony Hill and wife Ashley, Andrew Hill, Kela Eitelman and husband Rob, Katelen Noble and husband Jeremy, and Kailey LaRock and husband Kaden; great grandchildren, Ellis Marie Matlock, Emma Lee Grace Matlock, Evelyn Hope Matlock, Hayden Keith Henderson, Everleigh Reign Eitelman, Eden Robbie Eitelman, and Elias Reuben Eitelman; and sister, LaNell Dykes and husband Joe of Lake Murvaul.

Preceded in death by son, Nevett Henry McSwain; parents, Samuel Leon McSwain and Alma White McSwain; and sisters, Betty Jo McSwain Williams and Jacqulyn McSwain Powdrill.
