Glenn Earl Sowell, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2025, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Kevin Windham officiating. Interment will follow at Rather Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Born January 7, 1957, in Hearne, Texas, Glenn is the son of James Kelly Sowell and Frances Inez Deason Sowell. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Moore Sowell; son, Josh Sowell and wife, Chelsey; daughter, Sara and husband, Will Lloyd; grandchildren, Collin Lloyd, Addison Lloyd, Karlee Sowell, and Tripp Sowell; brothers, Charles Ray Sowell and wife, Carolyn, Bobby Wayne Sowell and Chuck, and Robert Kelly Sowell and wife, Cindy; and sisters, Mary Frances Burks, Alice Faye Waggoner, Ruby Lynn and husband, Maurice Metcalf, and Bronda Sue Blackmon.
Preceded in death by parents, James Kelly Sowell and Frances Inez Deason Sowell; brothers, Johnny Michael Sowell, James Delton Sowell, and Donald Lee Sowell; and sister, Barbara Jean Sowell.
Pallbearers will be Jake McSwain, Jeffery Sowell, Scooter Sowell, Austin Moore, Ryan Harding, Greg Burks, Bryan Metcalf, Jamie Sowell, and Kenneth Gray. Honorary pallbearers will be Gregg Powell, Shad Lout, Kenny Adams, Jason Griffin, Allan Sandlin, Jim Donnan, Kenneth Rash, Dub Eddins, Jeremy Smith, and Ronnie McSwain.
