Shirley S. Hollins, 62, from Houston Texas (a Tenaha native) passed away on November 15, 2024. Shirley was born October 9, 1962 in Centerville, Alabama (Bibb County) to Effie Lee Simmons (Stone) and David Columbus Simmons. Graveside services will be Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas. Her sister Marcella Meeks of Logansport, Louisiana, will be officiating the funeral service.

Shirley loved her boys, grandkids, dogs, and longtime friend Thomas Hill. Her dog’s name was Star, who was with her at the time of her passing. The dog before that was Meme, the mother of Star, and before that was Andy, who was a big part of her life. She enjoyed camping out in East Texas when her children were younger. She obtained her GED and attended a local college in the early 90s.

Shirley was preceded in death by former husband Daniel Hollins of Channelview, Texas; her mother, Effie Lee Simmons Stone, of Tenaha, Texas; her father, David C. Simmons, from Selma, Alabama; stepfather Fred M. Stone, formerly of Selma, Alabama; her brothers, Willard Simmons of Pasadena, Texas, Richard Simmons, Eddie Simmons, Werdner Simmons, all of Nacogdoches, Texas; sisters, Belinda Kay Simmons, Selma, Alabama., Martha Elner Simmons of Joaquin, Texas and Alice Hollins, Coleman, Texas; aunt, Pearl Terry Woods of Joaquin, Texas; several other aunts and uncles, as well as other family members who died through the years.

Shirley is survived by two sons; Jeffery Lynn Simmons and daughterin- law, Michelle Simmons of Channelview, Texas and Chad Curtis Hollins of Channelview, Texas; grandchildren, Paige Hannah St. Marie, Grant Pierce St. Marie of Channelview, Texas; sisters, Kitty Soape of Gilmer, Texas, Marcella S. Meeks of Logansport, La., and Elaine Smallwood of Nacogdoches, Texas; brothers, Fred Eugene Stone of Houston, Texas, and Donald Beagle of McPherson, Kansas; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who loved her.

Shirley will be missed by all of her family and friends.
