Cutlines: (Bucks in Pen) — TPWD recently euthanized a total of 89 deer at its prized research facility at the Kerr WMA, including 38 bucks, 36 does and 15 fawns. The deer herd was euthanized following the confirmation of chronic wasting disease in a 14-month-old buck. TPWD said postmortem testing of the entire herd yielded no additional CWD positives. Chronic wasting disease (CWD) continues to rear its ugly head in Texas. To date, several hundred CWD cases have been reported in more than two dozen counties in captive and free-ranging animals including white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk and red deer.
