The annual National Day of Prayer event is Thursday, May 4, noon-12:30, in front of Center’s historic courthouse. Sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance of Shelby County, the National Day of Prayer was begun in the 1950s by President Dwight Eisenhower and is observed by towns and cities around America on the first Thursday of May.
