Spring provided picture perfect weather last Thursday for the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center’s annual Butterfly Release. The downtown Center annual event recognizes April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Advocacy Center Director Denise Merriman coordinated the event as both Shelby County Judge Alison Harbison and Center Mayor David Chadwick addressed the gathering urging the importance of taking a stand in the fight against child abuse.
The Children’s Advocacy Center’s mission is to serve children in Shelby County that are victims of crimes and or neglect. The Butterfly Release is sponsored by Farmers State Bank in Center.
