• Sabine County Beekeepers Sabine County Beekeepers monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Meetings every 1st Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Sabine County Chamber of Commerce, on the square, downtown Hemphill. • Extension pesticide seminar Shelby County AgriLife Extension Service Pesticide Seminar at the Center Extension Office.
Programs include “The Curious Life of the Pest Ant and How to End It,” “Maximizing Pesticide Performance By Using Proper Adjuvant,” and “Drones and Other Spraying Considerations.”

• CAC Princess Ball Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center Princess Ball from 5:00 pm to 7:00 p.m. at the John D. Windham Civic Center. Open to girls ages 3-13 and their adult family member escort. Tickets are $25 and go on sale January 18. Table reservations for parties of eight are available for an additional $50. Tickets must be purchased at the CAC before the event—no tickets will be sold at the door. • A Matter of Balance Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Deep East Texas workshops can help reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults that have concerns about falling. Sessions over eight consecutive Tuesdays starting Jan. 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Senior Nutrition Site, 124 Haley Dr. in Center. There is no fee for participating in the program. • Child passenger seat safety Certified technicians coming to Center can provide child passenger safety education, help parents with seat installations, be a technician at car seat checkups. $95 fee payable online to Safe Kids. Includes two years of certification and the training manual. Training is three days long. Sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Passenger Safety & KidSafe Initiatives in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation Lufkin District. Appropriate COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
