Court accepts CPD letter, approves health insurance

Zack ClarkApproving TAC group health insurance and accepting an agreement letter from the Center Police Department were the central topics of discussion during the Shelby County Commissioners Court Special meeting held on Wednesday, June 4.

Poultry Festival seeking arts & crafts vendors

Planning is underway for the 49th East Texas Poultry Festival, presented by Farmers State Bank. The Poultry Festival will be held October 2-4th on the historic Center square. Arts and Crafts vendor applications are being accepted at the Shelby County Chamber office until Friday, Sept. 12.

Dale Bounds, a former president of the Texas State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, recently harvested this mature eastern wild turkey gobbler in Newton County. Bounds, 82, made the hunt despite limited mobility and a torn rotator cuff that prevented him from shouldering his 12-gauge without the aid of a brace.
