Portacool solidifies local economic impact

It seems like just yesterday that the fire that destroyed Portacool’s main manufacturing facility broke out. Thankfully, no one was injured that day, but a battle between the engulfing flames and local firefighters would last around 16 hours before finally being extinguished.

Area elections ongoing

Several area towns and schools have elections scheduled for Saturday, May 3. Early voting is ongoing at the following places and times.Joaquin city election: Early voting is taking place until Tuesday, April 29, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at city hall.

Advocacy Center aids child abuse victims

This is the first in a series of stories that deal with child abuse and children’s advocacy centers’ role in investigating child abuse cases.

Commissioners approve vehicle purchase

During its April 9 meeting the Shelby County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to approve the purchase of two new vehicles from Center Motor Company in substitution of two vehicles previously approved for purchase from San Augustine Motor Company.
