Maisyn Moore, 11th grade student at Joaquin High School who was the VFW Post 8904 co-winner in Voice of Democracy contest and advanced to capture First Place at the District 19 level competition,attended the district winter meeting at Lufkin VFW Post 1836 Saturday, January 14 with her mother Courtney. At the Lufkin meeting, Maisyn recited her award-winning essay and was presented with an engraved plaque and check for $500. She also won a $1,500 scholarship from the Department of Texas VFW.“We are so very proud of her,” said local VFW Post Quartermaster, Larry Hume.
