SCOM participating in East Texas Giving Day

Shelby County Outreach Ministries will be participating in the East Texas Giving Day April 25, 2023, from 6 a.m. to midnight. East Texas Giving Day raises awareness across the entire region, engaging communities across 32 counties. This awareness strengthens the entire nonprofit community, and is a wonderful opportunity to help support our programs which allow us to continue feeding the hungry and assisting the needy in Shelby County.

In 2022, our Helping Hands Outreach Center provided 2,785 emergency food boxes feeding 5,309 individuals in Shelby County. We assisted with approximately 4,594 needs in client assistance through emergency food boxes, prescription assistance, doctor/dental visits, Ensure Program, utilities, temporary lodging, and other miscellaneous needs. We also provided fans, heaters, clothing, household items, and other miscellaneous services.

Our Senior Nutrition Programs provided 24,047 meals to seniors 60 and older through our congregate program and Meals on Wheels program. Together, these programs serve 150 clients daily.

Our resale store, The Unique Boutique, helps fund our programs and allows us to keep serving the community. Not only does our store sell items at low prices, but it also helps clients who have suffered losses due to fire or other disasters. The Unique Boutique also provides clothing for those in need.
