SAKS of Love awarded Community Impact Awards to several individuals Saturday, Sept. 16.

“We were able to show love in the community to some wonderful people. Thank you for being a light in this community. We salute you all. God bless you,” said Executive Director of SAKS of Love, Christina Leary. “It was a blessing to see the smiles of some great men in our community.”

The awards recognizes people in the community making a difference. Awards were presented by Leary, and by Kelly Watts, owner of Kelly & Co., that made the custom baskets for recipients.

SAKS of Love extended a thank you to Kelly & Co., Kelly Pitts Watts, and their silent sponsors for helping make the event a success. A thank you was also extended to East Texas Awards & Engraving for the creation of the awards.

The Community Impact awards were presented to Center Fire Chief Keith Byndom who has served Center’s Fire Department for more than 30 years.

Micah Buzbee who serves as an officer for the Center and Garrison Police Department.

Panola County Sheriff Cutter Clinton and the Panola County Sheriff ’s Department was recognized for making a remarkable difference in the community.

Corey Holland, owner of Circle H BBQ of Carthage was recognized for his heroic acts of feeding all firemen and first responders during the East Texas Wildfires. Holland fed more than 500 people in one day. He never asked for help although the community pulled together to help him provide hot meals to first responders.

According to Leary, SAKS of Love will honor four more individuals next month who have served the community through charitable works.
