Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library friends and the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce joined with the Center Rotary Club Tuesday for a ribbon cutting celebrating renovations at the library’s Redditt Room.

The Rotary Club of Center utilized a Rotary District 5910 grant to remove the stage and replace the carpet in the library’s Redditt Room used for children’s activities, adult community programs, and community meetings.

Rotary Club President Steve Waters, joined by Rotary Mem- ber Hollie Adams, commented on the renovations noting the event as a great day for the library. “We’re here to dedicate what (the Rotary Club) has done through a Rotary District 5910 grant. It’s a great day for the library,” said Waters.

Shelby County Chamber of Commerce President Deborah Chadwick said, “When I first moved here, there were so many meetings and special events held in (the Reddit Room) “I’m glad the Rotary has taken the initiative to start with the re-carpeting and flow on through and just really keep this library alive and very vital. It’s important, so thank you Rotary.”

Roy Davis with the library said, “This library has been in this place since 1974 and this is one of the first in a long series of what we hope will be improvements that we’re going to make.”

In addition to the ribbon cutting celebration, the library Fall Book Sale started Tuesday, April 30 and runs through Saturday, May 4.
