The radio was changing the lives of Americans when Newton Johnson, Sr, opened a radio pair shop in the back of a furniture store on the Center square. The year was 1939.Johnson’s Radio and Electric had several homes before settling in the Cordray Building at 107 San Augustine Street. Johnson was the Radio Shack dealer and sold Philco and Sylvania televisions as well as satellite systems ...
