The Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee is hosting the May Lunch and Learn on Wednesday, May 24 at noon at the AgriLife Extension Office. The guest speaker for May will be Charlotte Stanaland, Youth Prevention Specialist at the The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to prioritize self-care. Mental and physical health are equally important components for overall health. Many of us are facing challenges that can be stressful and overwhelming. Stress can cause a number of health issues, and we all cope in different ways. One coping mechanism is the increased use of alcohol, illegal drugs and the misuse of prescription drugs. Charlotte Stanaland will talk about the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas and the many serves they offer. Their mission is to provide compassionate professional services combating the effects of substance abuse use and misuse, utilizing prevention, intervention, counseling and recovery support.

The Lunch and Learns are open to everyone. Lunch is provided. Please RSVP to 936-598-7744 or to 936-598-3682. For information contact the Chamber offices at 598-3682 or email info@shelbycountychamber.com.
