Renovation of the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library Redditt Room will be celebrated with the Rotary Club of Center Tuesday, April 30 at noon. Plus, the library’s four-day book sale begins the same day.

The Rotary Club of Center utilized a Rotary District 5910 grant to remove the stage and replace the carpet in the Redditt Room where children activities are often held along with other adult community programs and meetings.

“The Rotary Club was excited to make the Redditt room a more pleasant area for kids and adults to enjoy,” said Rotary Club President Steve Waters. “The old red carpet was worn beyond repair and posed a trip hazard. Rotary members stepped up by helping to pack away and remove books from the room.

The Center High School Interact members joined in by helping to pull up all the old red carpet and remove the stage. It was a group effort and conveyed Rotary’s motto ‘Service Above Self ’ which is its philosophy of unselfish volunteer service.”

The library offers much more than just checking out books and has served Shelby County residents at its present site in Center since 1974. It is an active location where families bring their kids. And it also serves as a resource where adults can come for help with online access for job searching, printing online forms, or simply accessing their email.

The library Fall Book Sale kicks off Tuesday, April 30 and runs through Saturday, May 4. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library and many services they provide.

The library is located at 619 Tenaha Street, Center, Texas. For more information, please contact the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce at (936) 598-3682 or www.shelbycountychamber. com.
