Miss Brandy Hagler had the honor of cutting the ribbon that marked the official opening of H&S Discount Foods in Center on Wednesday, December 11,1974. Others who took part in the ribbon cutting ceremony were Duke Taylor, Billy Parmer, Mrs. L.E. Hagler, Wayne Hagler, L.E. Hagler, Mrs. LaVerner Fields, Vance Payne and Jimmy Hagler.
In 1974, Center welcomed a new grocery store to the area when L.E. Hagler and family opened H&S Discount Foods to serve Center and surrounding Shelby County residents.
