New business in Tenaha named ‘huge win for Texas’

BRK Meats LLC of Tenaha was presented with a certificate from Texas Governor Greg Abbott Wednesday June 7, 2023. Making the presentation was Betty Russo, East Texas Regional Representative for the Office of Governor Greg Abbott.
“We thank everyone for coming out, as this is a special time for us,” said Bobby Vice, owner of BRK Meats.
“Governor Abbott has chosen to issue us a proclamation for our new business out here. To award this to us, he’s had Betty Russo, who is a significant part of his office, come today for Governor Abbott to present this proclamation to us,” he said.
“It’s an honor to be here,” said Russo. “To have this (business) here is a huge win for Texas. It’s very important to us. There’s a lot of agriculture in the state, so this means the world,” she said.
Russo read the certificate, “To all to whom these presents shall come, Greetings: Know ye that this certificate is presented to BRK Meats, LLC on the occasion of the Grand Opening Ceremony for its Harvest and Processing Units. In testimony whereof, I have signed my name and caused the Seal of the State of Texas to be affixed at the City of Austin this the 29th day of April 2023. Signed, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas.”
Vice expressed his thanks and gratitude to Russo and her office for the certificate and recognition.
“We appreciate Governor Abbott taking the time to recognize us,” said Vice. “We’re trying to get the production of beef back to a local and community effort. We hope we’re the start of something that’s going to be growing soon, in a big way. Right here in Tenaha,” he said.
