• CAC back to school drive The Shelby County CAC is asking everyone to help child abuse victims by providing backpacks and supplies. Take general supplies or donations to the Shelby County CAC at 131 Tenaha Street in Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 3:00 p.m. Call 936-590-9864 with any questions. Please donate! Children receiving backpacks benefit from life-changing programs made available by the SCCAC.

• Farmers State Bank East Texas Photo Contest and Exhibition Farmers State Bank is proud to host their inaugural photo contest exhibit in their Main Lobby on the downtown square in Center, Texas. The People’s Choice Award will be announced on Monday, July 17. Visit the exhibit and vote for your favorite photo.

• Scrap Happy quilters The Scrap Happy Quilters July meeting will be Saturday, July 8 at 9 a.m. at the James Community House. Meeting dates will resume to the first Saturday of the month on August 5. Everyone is invited. Bring your sewing machine and supplies like any other class you take.

• Shake Up Shake Down, the Health Fair is in Town! The Tri-County Community Action, Inc. Head Start and Early Head Start will be hosting a Community Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, July 13 at San Augustine Center Base located at 1012 FM 1277 in San Augustine, Texas from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The Community Health and Wellness Fair will also be held on Thursday, July 20 at the Open Door Worship Center located at 900 Cotton Ford Road in Center, Texas from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The Community Health and Wellness Fair offers health screenings, vendor boots and free consultations. • John Harris Community Fund The John Harris Community Fund at East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF) in Tyler is accepting grant applications now through Thursday, July 14, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The John Harris Community Fund was established to support worthy civic, religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational projects which benefit the Center, Texas, community. Applicants must be tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status or a governmental unit. Requests should not exceed $10,000 but there is no minimum.
