• CAC back to school drive The Shelby County CAC is asking everyone to help child abuse victims by providing backpacks and supplies. Take general supplies or donations to the Shelby County CAC at 131 Tenaha Street in Center Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 3:00 p.m. Call 936-590-9864 with any questions. Please donate! • John Harris Community Fund The John Harris Community Fund at East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF) in Tyler is accepting grant applications now through Thursday, July 14, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The John Harris Community Fund was established to support worthy civic, religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational projects which benefit the Center, Texas, community. Applicants must be tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status or a governmental unit. Requests should not exceed $10,000 but there is no minimum. • Leadership Shelby County Applications will be available starting June 26th for the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Shelby County 2023-2024 class. The nine-month program is to identify potential leaders and develop their knowledge, skills and vision necessary to actively participate in the enhancement of the community. A group of 12 will be chosen. Participants will meet one day each month October to May. Deadline for applications is Friday, August 4, 2023. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Entertainment with Kelly Amburn and The Hard Time Band, and Solijah Allison begins at 6:00 p.m. The fireworks show will start around 9:00 p.m. The Tenaha Volunteer Fire Department will sell snow cones.
