• Scrap Happy Quilters A new club, Scrap Happy Quilters, will meet on the first Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. at the James Community House, 348 FM 2608, Center. Everyone is invited to join the fun, learn new techniques, answer questions, and work with a great group of quilting friends. From Center: take Hwy 7 East, right on FM 2608 at the James Store, the building is about 1/4 mile on right, first driveway past CR 3210. Bring your sewing machine and supplies. $2 donation each month you attend for the community center expenses.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be at the Center Police Department parking lot from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All donors will receive a $10 Tango digital gift card. • 2023 Grill Fest barbecue cook-off The 2023 Grill Fest sanctioned barbecue cook-off is set for Friday, March 31 through Saturday, April 1 at the Shelby County Expo Center/Rodeo Arena. The public is invited to attend and sample tastings of barbecue at cook team stations as well as enjoy the fun activities. Entry is free. Registration is open until the day of the event. The fee now through March 17 is $150 per team. After March 17, the fee is $200.
