Surprise celebration party held at civic center
Center Police Chief Jim Albers was honored for his 50 years in law enforcement with a surprise party at the Windham Civic Center, Friday, March 31. Family, friends, community members and other members of law enforcement were present to celebrate his achievement.
Albers has been Center Police Chief since March of 2009. He is 36-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office where his experience included commanding the Burglary & Theft and Auto Theft Division of Detectives. He commanded several patrol districts including DARE Units, Crime Prevention, Motorist Assistance Programs (MAP) and Narcotics Enforcement teams. He also commanded the Support Service Division and one of the largest jails in the State of Texas.
He was promoted to Captain in 1993 by then Sheriff Johnny Klevenhagen, and held that rank for 18 years until he retired.
After retiring from the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office, Albers accepted the Chief of Police position for the City of Center.
Albers and his wife, Lisa, are the parents of four sons, one daughter, and a host of grandchildren. One son, Aric Albers, has been in law enforcement for 26 years.
Chief Albers holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston and is a 1986 graduate of the FBI Academy, 146 Session.
