Chavez joins Chamber Office staff

Twenty-year-old local from Center, Lizbeth Chavez, has gained the position as the new front desk receptionist for the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

Chavez graduated from Center High School in 2022, and is currently enrolled in Panola College where she’s in her second year of general studies.

“I started this position about three weeks ago. I got a text from a friend about the job opening. I went to the chamber to talk with Mrs. Deborah and she gave me the job, and so far I love it.” 

President of the Shelby County Chamber, Deborah Chadiwck, says Chavez jumped right in without hesitation. 

“I’m super proud of her,” said Chadwick. “She jumped in during the busiest time of the year. We have the Poultry Festival coming up, JCC events, and she’s been handling it great. She’s always smiling, has a great attitude, and she’s been such a pleasure. We’ve been loving having her here,” she said. 

Chavez plans to pursue her receptionist position with the Chamber as she finishes out her year at Panola, where she will then transfer to Stephen F. Austin University in the future.
