Chavez joins chamber office staff

Lizbeth Chavez is the new front desk receptionist for the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. The 20-year-old Center resident graduated from Center High School in 2022 and is currently enrolled in Panola College in her second year of general studies.

“I started this position about three weeks ago,” said Chavez. “I got a text from a friend about the job opening, went to the chamber to talk with Mrs. Deborah, and she gave me the job. So far, I love it.”

“I’m super proud of her,” said Chadwick. “She jumped in during the busiest time of the year. We have the Poultry Festival coming up, Junior Chamber of Commerce events, and she’s been handling it great. She’s always smiling, has a great attitude, and she’s been such a pleasure. We’ve been loving having her here.”

Chavez plans to pursue her receptionist position with the chamber as she finishes out her year at Panola, after which, she plans to transfer to Stephen F. Austin University.
