The 2023 4-H District 5 Food Challenge was held Friday, Feb. 24 at the John D. Windham Civic Center in Center. “Today in Shelby County we have 22 counties represented that have 54 teams and 199 kids participating in our annual food challenge,” said District 5 4H Specialist, Dr. Jheri-Lynn McSwain.

“The kids have 40 minutes to prepare a dish using a key ingredient. Then they have a presentation where they work with their team to present to the judges things like nutrition, calories, the serving size and so forth,” she said.
