The Timpson Bears have put to rest any notion that they are a one-man show. Three games into the season and five-star athlete Terry Bussey has yet to see significant time on the field. This week he suited up for a handful of plays but did not factor heavily into the game plan. Despite their best player taking it slow with his health in mind, Timpson hasn’t missed a step.

Week one, the Bears faced the Beckville Bearcats who held the No. 4 rank in Texas 2A Div I.

Timpson, who held the No. 2 rank at the time, beat the Bearcats handily with a 50-13 final. Week two, the Bears punched above their weight class with a win over the 3A Div I Jefferson Bulldogs. Finally in week three, Timpson battled 3A Div II contender Daingerfield. Heading into the matchup Daingerfield sported the No. 8 record for 3A Div II.

Their third victory was a hard-fought affair. Daingerfield kept pace with the Bears for the better part of the ballgame. The teams went to the locker room knotted up at six a piece during halftime.

By the end of the fourth quarter, Timpson held a narrow 19-18 lead. The Bears stepped up in the fourth quarter and sealed the game 33-26.

J.J. Garner completed six of 12 passes for 75 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Garner also added a massive 183 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Bussey made his debut this week throwing two passes and completing on for 25 yards. He also had a reception for six yards, and one carry for nine yards and a touchdown.

Vosky Howard carried the ball 11 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns. Amari Bruton led the team with 68 yards and a touchdown on three receptions.

Timpson will now move on to face Waskom on the road. Waskom currently holds a 1-2 record.
