The Battle of the Attoyac is a yearly meeting between the football teams of Timpson and Garrison. Each year, these rivals meet with bragging rights on the line. This year, the Garrison Bulldogs traveled across the Attoyac River to face the Bears in Timpson.

This years’ matchup was a highly significant game considering that both teams had remained undefeated and were meeting for a district championship. Timpson has been on a four-year tear, while the Bulldogs have been steadily improving over the past few seasons.

At halftime, the Bears held a narrow 14-13 advantage. This was a tight game throughout, but ultimately, Timpson was able to defend their home turf with a final score of 35-26.

This year, the Bears have outscored opponents 566-120 over the 10-game season. This also marks Timpson’s fourth consecutive perfect 10-0 season. Expectations are high this year, and it seems that the Bears are poised to rise to the occasion. They are currently ranked No. 1 in the Texas 2A Division I classification.

Now the Bears will head into the postseason with a deep playoff run on their mind. In fact, after being shut down just one game shy of the state championship in each of the past three seasons, Timpson will have one goal in mind, a state title.

Timpson’s first postseason opponent will be the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs.
