The Timpson Bears have earned their ninth straight victory of the season. The Bears traveled to Shelbyville to face the Dragons and walked away with a 61-0 shutout. Timpson has now won 39 straight regular season games.

The good news for the Dragons is that they have clinched the three seed despite the setback. Shelbyville also had the opportunity to get reps to a talented group of underclassmen given the absence of their two leading rushers.

Timpson’s quarterback Terry Bussey had a relatively quiet night with 10 completions on 16 attempts. He passed for 142 yards, a pair of touchdowns, and one interception. In the running game, Bussey ended the night with five carries for only 15 yards.

The real standout was running back J.J. Garner who has made a name for himself over the past year racking up huge numbers. On only eight carries, he provided the Bears with 269 yards and five touchdowns.

Amari Bruton also had a big night. He finished with two receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Bruton also had a fumble recovery for a touchdown and an interception that almost broke loose.

Dacorian Johnson led the team in receptions with six and in receiving yards with a total of 69. He was able to carry one of those receptions across the goal line for a touchdown.

Timpson will now face off against rival Garrison in their annual “Battle of the Attoyac.” Both teams are undefeated through nine games, and it is fitting that these two juggernauts should meet in the last game of the regular season for a district title shootout.

Timpson will be viewed as the favorite heading into Friday, but the underdog Bulldogs would love nothing more than to topple one of the best teams in the state. Expect both teams to come out swinging in what is bound to be a fun game to watch.
